DOs and DON'Ts
For JEE Main 2020 please keep the following things in mind :
- Tryout to catch up more and more concepts as you can as this is the time to rectify and resolve your mistakes.
- Avoid addicting to mobile phones/televisions etc for more time. Yes, you can use it for a particular time limit for refreshment(let's say half an hour in a day)
- A proper sleep of 6-7 hours is very essential, sleeping less than that may cause adverse effect on health and mindset. Also oversleeping may also affect your results.
- Start learning Chemistry from now, make a proper revision plan daily/weekly which covers up reading/writing/practicing previously taught topics. Believe me Chemistry will definitely Save Up your score.
- Keep hunting yourself to study more and more!
- If you sit for study, study continuously for 2.5 to 3 hours, This will help you to build exam temperament (Remember! You will have to sit in JEE Mains for 3 house on the same chair and PC, you cannot bustle out)
- Keep yourself Hydrated at your tuition or your studying room.
- Do Yoga/Meditation for at least half an hour in morning, this will help you to boost your thinking and conceptualizing power. (Just checkout some best videos on YouTube which will help you to think efficiently)
- In your free time, instead of ruining it on social media, use your phone to check various collages based on your field of interest, their cut-offs, seats, placement etc). Believe Me, this will help you to perceive out for the best institution based on your score at the end!
- Have a practice to take an online test on your PC or at Cyber Cafe (if PC is not available at your home) or any other place at least once a week. This will give a super boost to your exam temperament. If arrangement of PC is not possible then purchase a book of previous year papers and solve it once a week keeping pace with the exact time.
- Analyse the mistakes that you do in your daily/weekly/monthly tests and try to sort it out.
- In the last 10 days before examination, try to keep yourself motivated by seeing some comedy videos (for a certain time limit)
- Don't hear lyrical songs during previous 2-3 days of examination, b/c this will result your sixth sense to playout that song whenever you're not able to think on a particular question, if you really want to hear then go for instrumental songs. Believe Me! This will definitely affect your marks.
- Don't ever compare the score of the tution tests/test series/online test etc with your JEE Mains exam, the score in JEE Mains may turn out to be completely different.
- If you find hard to study in less time then hunt up your maximum free time and utilize it to study(Keep your mind that wasting a single min will push you thousands of rank back)
SUPER STUDY PLAN
MATURITY : See, now the time of primary level where parents force his/her child to study is gone, It's the time when we need to understand the situation and blow out the mind maximum in studying. The more you are career oriented, more results you will get. It's the time when one have to force himself/herself to study. Honestly, one should thrust himself/herself to study for at least 12-15 hours a day, to get a very prestigious rank in JEE Mains/Advance whatsoever his/her IQ is. This is the time when you need to decide the hours of studying. I also have noticed some students getting off-track in these two years in one or the other way. It is the time to understand and work out to get best in life.
BRAIN BOOSTER : To boost out your brain the best remedy is not to run your brain at useless matters. Whenever you are tired, keep books aside and just sit for 10-15 mins not thinking about anything, stop wondering here and there and not even talking to someone. If you want you can have energy drinks prescribed by the doctor (like Glucose, Vital-Z, TanG etc). If you have a practice to wake up early and study then have a practice to sleep on time. Studying overnight with coffee/tea or anything is a useless myth. Perform meditation. Concentrate on Studies and not on other things while studying. While studying you should feel yourself that you're studying.
DAILY SCHEDULE : When you wake up daily, first of all take a pen and paper and build your study plan for the particular day. (Remember that the study plan should not be out of your study limits, be biased and plan out only those things which you can really complete on that day). Try to complete at least 80-90% of your study plan in a day. Do not get tensed if you are not able to complete it 100%. Try to do the remaining things by studying overtime or try to hunt out more time to complete it. Have a practice of not carry-forwarding the remaining tasks of the day to the next day. Plan out a new studying schedule on new day. The studying schedule must include equal time devotion to all the three subjects (PCM). Also do Board studies regularly so that you do not get stressed with backlogs at the time of Board.
REVISION : Revision plays the most leading role in your JEE preparation. I've seen people studying for a very less time but scoring high marks, the key behind this is continuous revision. Flow you eye to the things that you got to learnt from school/tuition on the particular day before you end up your study at night. Write those things on a piece of paper which you found difficult to conceptualize/remember in the form of short notes and revise it in morning before starting to study. Also have an eye on each and every sum that teacher taught you or you practiced on that particular day. Revision is the trick to learn our chemistry in the fastest possible way. Try out to revise chemistry every hour. (for e.g. if you have been studying/practicing physics since 2 hours then revise chemistry for half an hour and then do Maths for next 2 hours and repeat the same process in each and every couple of hours) , This will help you to sort out remembering all the reactions, catalysts, reagents, colours of compounds etc. Start and End-Up your study revising chemistry that you learnt on that particular day. Keep revising things that are difficult to remember while going to school, tution, in school break etc. After giving School Test or Tution Tests, have a practice to solve out the paper as quick as possible.
ATTEMPTING THE PAPER
Different people will suggest you different type to attempt the paper, but finally it's in your hand to get best out of what you have invested in your mind, To get results up to the mark please consider the following the following tips :
- While attempting the paper first step is to check the questions which you can easily solve, just follow the sequence in all the three subjects : easy, easy, easy -> medium, medium, medium -> hard, hard, hard
- First of all go for all the easy questions in all the three subjects, by experience you can easily figure out the easier questions, try to complete all the easy questions of all the three subjects in 1 to 1.2 hours.
- Use rest of the time to resolve the medium and hard questions, you should be totally biased about this, Remember that your decision of Question Selection and Rejection will definitely award you marks up to your level.
How many questions we should attempt to get a decent score ?
Well, Truely speaking, different people have different strategies for that,
- There are students attempting very less no of questions (i.e. 30-35) and still bringing a score of 120+, it means that they have a very high level of accuracy
- There are also some students attempting more question than that required to be attempted as per their level (i.e 65-70) and getting not even 100
- There are also some students attempting moderate no of questions (55-60) and getting decent score
Thus there are variety of strategies that students use to get results, however to formulate the best strategy of attempting the questions once should keep the following points in mind :
- One should always attempt the no of questions between maximum and minimum that he/she could attempt
- One should always keep in mind that to get a VERY HIGH SCORE (180+), one should always target attempting more questions, This can only be achieved by consistent studies, revisions and finally individual efforts.
- You can get a very clear idea of attempting the questions by your weekly/monthly tests held in your school/tutions etc.
- You should attempt the questions in which you are 50-75% sure (i.e. if you are able to eliminate two/three options and you have to make decision from the other two/one)
- However just leave the questions in which you are not even 50% sure.
- Even if you are able to attempt less no of questions then keep QUALITY OVER QUANTITY in mind, you should be very accurate then only your chances of getting good marks is possible.
Which subject I should attempt first and How much max time should I devote to each subject?
- You should always first go for Chemistry as there are very high chances to score in it, then you can successively choose Physics or Maths whichever is more comfortable to you.
- Generally try to complete Chemistry in 30 to 40 mins (max), then you can devote accordingly to Physics and Maths as per your grip in each subject (generally try to complete Physics in 1-1.2 hrs and as generally Maths goes to be lengthy it usually takes 1.3-1.5 hrs)
